Guards
Every afternoon an honor guard of the Royal 22e Régiment marches into the Citadelle of Quebec on the historic Plains of Abraham for the Changing of the Guard. There's usually a good contingent of tourists surrounding the parade ground for the ceremony. It is majestic, but fairly static and it was difficult to get a shot with out tourists in the background. At the end of the event as the old guard moved out, the tourists staid put. Quickly following the marching soldiers, I ran to the top of a small ridge and shoot down as they passed, using 1/3 of a second for a bit of motion blur and a clean background.

New France Festival
At the Fêtes de la Nouvelle France in Quebec in August the streets are full of performers in seventeenth century dress, doing street theater, serving food, singing and entertaining. The five day festival has a contagious energy, but some participants are self-conscious and tend to pose for photos. This young lady responded with a spontaneous and humorous, tlt of the head and smile that makes a much more lively portrait.

Quebec
In early August I travelled to Quebec to the old city to photograph the New France Festival for a week. Quebec has its 400 year anniversary celebration coming up in 2008 and is already preparing for the celebrations.
