As an experiment I have put up a new search routine which uses tags to produce the fucntionality of lightboxing

The routine is written using AJAX (Asynchronous JavaScript and XML). and immediately updates the database when an images is tagged, and immediately retrieves all tags for images on the pages when current tag is changed.
AJAX is the same technology used in GMail. It is rapid, works under the hood and doesn't cause page refreshes. It can be used to get any snippet of info from anywhere that a database can serve up XML.
